Kanawa is just a 45 minute free boat ride from Labuan Bajo between Flores and the Komodo marine park. The island is surrounded by warm, crystal clear water with a fantastic house reef accessible straight off the beach for snorkeling, day/night diving and tuition of the many PADI courses we offer from Discover Scuba for complete beginners right up to Dive master internships. Of course we also offer daily 2 or 3 dive trips to explore the natural splendor of the 80+ dive sites Komodo Marine Park has to offer. The area is one of the most diverse and richest marine environments on the planet with over 1000 species of fish, 80 species of coral.
Here you can encounter everything from the big stuff like Mantas, Whale sharks ,Mola Mola (Ocean Sunfish) and huge Bump head Parrotfish to the small stuff like Pygmy Seahorse, and seemingly endless varieties Nudibranchs, Frogfish and other beautiful reef inhabitants. With all this to offer its not hard to see why this area is on everybodys must dive list and a Mecca for underwater photographers and marine biologists!!
At Kanawa Island Diving we can even offer a combination of diving and a chance to encounter the famous Komodo Dragons on either Komodo or Rinca islands. Due to our location and the speed of our custom dive boat (The Sea pickle) travel times to the best sites the area has to offer are often shorter than many of the land based operations allowing you a chance to relax between dives on the sun deck and chat over lunch either on the boat or on one of the many beautiful, secluded beaches in the area before returning to the island to watch the sun go down from the water house, beach or maybe from the islands highest pointat 90 meters above sea level it offers a superb 360 degree view that is breathtaking.
